The president’s spokesman, GARBA SHEHU, who revealed this in a statement said the visit which comes against the backdrop of recent xenophobic attacks and follows an invitation by President CYRIL RAMAPHOSA, is to discuss the welfare of Nigerians and find common ground for building harmonious relationship with their hosts.
According to him Presidents BUHARI while in South Africa will hold a town hall meeting with Nigerians living in the country, preside over the South Africa/Nigeria Bi-National Commission alongside his host, after which both leaders will sign a joint communiqué.
The President and his delegation including Nigerian business representatives will also participate at a South Africa-Nigeria Business Forum with their host counterparts.
President Buhari will be accompanied on the trip by governor ABDULLAHI UMAR GANDUJE of Kano State, Governor SIMON LALONG of Plateau State and Governor DAVID UMAHI of Ebonyi State, the National Security Adviser, BABAGANA MONGUNO; Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, AHMED RUFAI ABUBAKAR; and Chairman of Nigeria Diaspora Commission, ABIKE DABIRI-EREWA, alongside some ministers.
The President will return to the country on Friday.
