Governor Wike, who made the statement in a broadcast, assured the people that the state government and the security agencies will ensure there is peace in the state.
Wike also called on leaders of political parties to obey the laws regulating election campaigns in the state.
He said the state is aware that desperate politicians are recruiting cultists to attack and intimidate voters during the election.
Governor Wike therefore directed security agencies to raid suspected areas or premises and clampdown on cultists and other criminals used by politicians to disturb the security of the state.
Meanwhile; Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has dismissed report that the People’s Democratic Party sponsored the attack on members of the All Progressive Congress and its Governorship Candidate, Tonye Cole in Opobo-Nkoro.
Governor Wike spoke during the campaign rally of the PDP in Buguma, Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers state.
The governor also advised opposition political parties to stop the habit of spreading false news of attacks on their campaign teams to gain cheap popularity.
