Why Families in Okrika are called War Canoe house, elders explain

Chief Abbiye Sekibo and Chief Toku Adokiye gave the explanation during the traditional induction and upgrading of 9 Chiefs of Okochiri Kingdom to Okrika Traditional Council of Chiefs.

 

Chief Sekibo and Chief Adokiye while explaining the importance of the induction, said the tradition of Okrika people, allows that anyone who must assume the position of a Chief of War Canoe House, must be ready for war and defend his people.

 

 

On their parts, the Secretary, Okrika Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief L D. I.I Allalibo and Chief of Staff to Amayanabo of Okochiri, Chief Tamino Akalobo spoke on the importance of Okrika Tradition to the development and growth of the people.

 

Speaking in an interview with our Correspondent Uchendu Ejiowhor, the Chairman of Okochiri Council of Chiefs, Chief Jackson Adoki-Ibiteinbo who is among the newly inducted Okrika chiefs stressed the need for Traditional rulers to be assisted in ensuring peace and unity of the society.
