The Interior Minister PACOME MOUBELET-BOUBEYA made this known during a media shortly after a television address by President ALI BONGO.
Trouble started after President BONGO was declared winner of last Saturday’s presidential election, which was greeted with revolt by opposition protesters.
Latest reports indicate that the security force have raided the headquarters of the party of the opposition candidate, JEAN PING, with a helicopter bombing the building in Libreville.
JEAN PING made the disclosure in an interview with the BBC, but a government spokesman said the operation was targeted at criminals who had set fire to the parliament building.
However; Gabon’s presidential spokesman said those who are unhappy with election results, should go through the legal system.
ALAIN-CLAUDE BILIE who spoke to Radio France International said it was in the interest of all Gabonese for things to calm down.
