This season has so far produced one of the best away victories in the NPFL as away teams have continued to pick points on the road.

Matchday 15 witnessed some vital results which resulted in a change on top of the league table.

Nine games were played in different venues across the country, three teams won away from home while two draws were recorded with 21 goals scored.

Plateau United failed to hold on to the top of the league table which they had maintained as they have now gone three games without a victory.

The Tin City Boys suffered a 2-1 defeat to Sunshine Stars at the Akure Township Stadium.

Goals from Omo Jesus Ogunniyi in the 11th minute and Fuad Ekeleojuoti in the 33rd put the visitors to the sword.

Oche Ochowechi scored Plateau United lone goal but it was too late to share the spoils as they lost their top spot.

It was a hard-earned victory to move joint top of the league table for Rivers United who hosted Lobi Stars at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

The highly entertaining encounter was one of the crackers of Matchday 15 as Lobi were hoping to extend their lead at too of the league table.

At the end of 90 minutes, it was the hosts who laughed last as Malachi Ohawuma scored the winning goal in the 75th minute.

Both teams displayed their hunger to for all the three points as Nelson Esor netted the opener just two minutes.

Lobi quickly levelled matters in the 19th minute through John Lazarus to restore parity before Ohawuma’s strike sealed the victory.

Despite the defeat, Lobi maintained their first position with Rivers United who is now levelled on points and is only behind on goal difference.

Akwa United seems to go back to their poor start in the league after the winning streak was halted by Kwara United at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo.

It was a missed chance for the Promise Keeper to break into the top three right in front of their supporters.

A brace from Alao Danbani proved vital for Kwara who are battling to remain in the league after their return when they bought over Delta Force spot.

At the Warri Township Stadium, Rangers international produced a scintillating performance to avoid being devoured by Warri Wolves.

The Flying Antelopes who were reduced to 10-men stood their ground as they  became the predator with a  stunning 2-1 victory against Wolves 2-1 to continue their resurgence.

Kano Pillars shared the spoils with Katsina United at the Muhammad Dillon Stadium to move up in the league table.

Two Oriental derby added colour to Matchday 15 as Enyimba hosted Heartland while Abia Warriors welcomed FC Ifeanyiubah.

However, it was a disappointing result for the People’s Elephant who are yet to beat Heartland since 2015.

The NPFL Champions fresh from their CAF Confederation Cup victory failed to replicate the same winning mentality as they were stunned 2-0 by Heartland at the Aba International Stadium.
