Nornu-Gbarakoro’s advice comes few days after the bill seeking for the prohibition of open rearing and grazing of livestock and ranching administration scaled through second reading at the River State House of Assembly.
The environmental and animal expert in an interview with Today’s FM Preye Izogu, also advised the government to provide security in all approved ranches when established, adding that the herders should reside outside the ranches.
He added that consultation should be done by the proposed state committee and the various community leaders across the state to create a framework before establishing the ranches.
