This comes after the United Nations suspended aid operations in Syria following an attack on its convoy of more than thirty trucks near the besieged city of Aleppo.
US officials said the donation would help the UN and other charities provide food, safe water and medical care to those in the country and refugees in the region.
Meanwhile; reports say Syrian forces have made advances in the centre of Aleppo after days of heavy air strikes.
Following the development; the World Health Organization has called for safe evacuation routes out of the city for the injured and sick.
A spokeswoman for the WHO was reported as saying there were only thirty-five doctors left to care for hundreds of trapped patients, and the number of casualties was rising.
