In a significant crackdown on crime, two youths allegedly involved in stealing and vandalizing pipelines along the Trans-national pipeline owned by the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) have been arrested and handed over to the police.
The suspects, both indigenes of Bomu community in the Gokana local government area, were apprehended on Tuesday while reportedly cutting pipes at the Capped Shell Oil Wells located at Koro Location farms. The youth leaders collaborated with law enforcement to ensure that the suspects were transferred to the Octopus Anti-Cultism Tactical Command for further investigation.
Leela Lakil, the Youth Leader of Bomu Community, confirmed the arrests, noting that community vigilance played a crucial role in apprehending the suspects. He emphasized the importance of protecting the community’s resources from criminal activities.
Dr. Ralpheal Kornu, the Chairman of the Community Development Committee of Bomu, commended the youth for their determination and vigilance. He praised their commitment to safeguarding critical government assets, stating that such actions are vital for the community’s development and safety.
As investigations continue, community members await further action from law enforcement to ensure that such incidents of vandalism and theft are addressed, reinforcing the community’s resolve to protect its resources.
