United States President Donald Trump has disclosed that the American government coordinated the Sokoto Christmas Day air strikes targeting ISIS militants in collaboration with the Nigerian government.
Trump made the statement while addressing guests at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. According to him, the strikes were ordered to decimate ISIS fighters he accused of carrying out large-scale killings of Christians in the country.
The U.S. president said the timing of the operation was intended to disrupt the activities of the террорист group and reinforce efforts to protect vulnerable communities.
There has been no immediate official response from Nigerian authorities regarding the disclosure.
