While consolidating ongoing anti-illegal bunkering operations, the troops also destroyed thirteen active illegal refining sites, seven boats, discovered eight illegal connection points, and confiscated over sixty thousand litres of stolen products across the Niger Delta region.
In a statement, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 6th Division, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah-Danjuma, noted that the troops have continued to dominate the Niger Delta region, achieving significant operational successes.
The statement detailed that, following credible intelligence on an attempt to vandalize a Nigerian Agip Oil Company pipeline in Upatabo Community, Ahoada West Local Government Area, troops swiftly mobilized to the location, and upon arrival, engaged the criminals in a firefight, killing two and recovering rifles, eight magazines, and sixty eight rounds of seven point six two mm (special) ammunition, while the remaining vandals fled the scene.
Meanwhile, at Bille in Degema Local Government Area, troops deactivated four illegal refining sites, seized two wooden boats, and confiscated over six thousand litres of stolen products.
The statement quoted the General Officer Commanding, 6th Division, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, who commended the troops for their successes and reassured the public that ongoing operations would be sustained.
