Traders Decry Deplorable Roads, Poor Sanitation at Creek Road Market

Traders at the popular Creek Road Market in Port Harcourt are calling on the Rivers State Government to urgently address what they describe as the deplorable condition of access roads and poor sanitation within the market.

A cross-section of traders who spoke to our reporter, Ufuoma Kokogho, lamented that the broken and waterlogged roads have made it extremely difficult for them to transport goods into the market.

They also expressed concern over the poor sanitary conditions, which they say have resulted in an increase in health problems such as respiratory infections and waterborne diseases.

The traders further appealed to the Rivers State Government to not only repair the access roads but also prioritize effective waste management and improved sanitation within the market.

Our reporter, who visited the Creek Road Market, observed piles of uncollected refuse and blocked drainage systems scattered across various sections of the market, worsening the already unhealthy environment.
