Tony Okocha task RESIEC on prompt conduct of local government elections

Chief Okocha also stressed the need for the conduct of the local government elections in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the pronouncements of the Supreme Court, against setting up Caretaker Committees.

The APC Seven Man Caretaker Committee Chairman who spoke during a meeting between members of the Inter Party Advisory Committee and RSIEC at the RSIEC office on Aba road, Port Harcourt, where he confirmed that the APC will participate fully in the elections, expressed optimism to emerge victorious in all the twenty three local government Areas and the three hundred and nineteen wards in Rivers State.

Chief Okocha while calling on Governor Siminalayi Fubara and security agencies to ensure an enabling environment for a seamless local government elections, observed that the tenure of the serving Chairmen and Councilors in Rivers State will expire soon, hence the need for RSIEC to notify the political parties about the timetable for the elections within the stipulated time.

In his speech, the Chairman of RISEC, Adolphus Enebeli commended the IPAC members for the unity of purpose and assured of his commitment to ensure that the political parties receive necessary information about the conduct of the elections.
