Tinubu to Forward Tunji Disu’s Name to Senate as Substantive IGP

President Bola Tinubu is set to transmit the name of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to the Senate for confirmation as the substantive Inspector General of Police.

The move will follow a meeting of the Nigeria Police Council, which the President is expected to convene shortly to formally consider the appointment in line with the provisions of the Police Act 2020.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, said President Tinubu is confident that Disu will deploy his experience, operational depth, and proven leadership capacity to provide steady and focused direction for the Nigeria Police Force at this critical time.

The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security, boosting institutional capacity, and ensuring the Police Force remains professional, accountable, and fully equipped to carry out its constitutional responsibilities.
