Tinubu Bans Raw Shea Nut Export for Six Months to Boost Local Processing

President Bola Tinubu has approved a six-month ban on the export of raw shea nut in a move aimed at strengthening local processing and protecting Nigeria’s shea industry.

The directive, which takes immediate effect, will be subject to review at the end of the six months. It is expected to boost Nigeria’s shea value chain and generate an estimated $300 million annually in the short term.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who announced the decision during a multi-stakeholder meeting at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, said the Federal Ministry of Finance and other relevant agencies have been directed to ensure swift enforcement of the president’s order.
