Three Nigerian Lawmakers Caught Over Sex Scandal in US

The Federal Lawmakers in question were part of a delegation of ten members of the House of Representatives who had taken part in an exchange programme in the United States.

The ten lawmakers had been invited to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program held in Cleveland, Ohio, from 7th to 13th of April.

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, JAMES ENTWISTLE said the three male lawmakers were accused of gross misconduct involving alleged sexual assault and solicitation of prostitutes during their stay in the US.
The US envoy said even when the alleged actions of the offending lawmakers were brought to the attention of other members of the delegation; they acted in a manner that suggested they did not disapprove of their behavior.

Following the development; Ambassador ENTWISTLE warned members of the House of Assembly that their future official visits to the US could be in jeopardy.

The warning was contained in a letter by the US Ambassador to Nigeria which was addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, YAKUBU DOGARA.

But reports have it that the lawmakers mentioned in the alleged offensive behaviour in the US have denied the claims and demanded apology.

The affected Federal lawmakers are from Bauchi, Akwa Ibom and Benue States, and are drawn from both APC and PDP,.

They have turned around to accuse the United States Government of character assassination and threatened to take the matter to court.
