The National Industrial Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State will on the 15th of October this year begin consideration of a case filed by sacked workers of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic; formerly known as Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori. Over three hundred and forty newly recruited RIVPOLY employees who were sacked just as they were about to resume work, are being represented by lawyers engaged by Access to Justice, which is an offshoot of the Institute for Human Right and Humanitarian Law. One of the attorneys in the firm, COURAGE NSIRIMOVU confirmed the hearing date in an interview with correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR. NSIRIMOVU affirmed that the Rivers State Attorney General, the Ministry of Education and the Management of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic are joined as respondents in the suit. He said the legal action was initiated because the Rivers State Government failed to respond to a request for negotiations in a bid to resolve the matter.
