The Acting Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice DAISY OKOCHA says she inherited over nine thousand cases at the state high courts on assumption of office.Justice OKOCHA disclosed that more than nineteen thousand cases were pending at the Magistrate Court in the state at the same time she took charge of affairs in the state judiciary. 
The revelations were made at a Special Court Session in Port Harcourt to mark the commencement of a new Legal Year in the state.
Justice OKOCHA also submitted that the judiciary under her leadership has generated over seventy million naira from fines and bail fees.
The Acting Chief Judge of Rivers State disclosed that the state judiciary has commenced the process of engaging four addition judges for the High Courts.
Our correspondent reports that Judges of the Federal High Court, State High Court and the Customary Court of Appeal were among guest at the ceremony.
The ceremony also featured the lunch of the official journal of the Rivers state High Court, entitled “The Adjudicator”.
