Talks ongoing on health and safety issues in down stream sector- Gov. Abdul Rahman

Abdulrahman made this known during a visit to the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt, to commiserate with him and people of the state over the fire incidence that claimed lives and destroyed several vehicles on Friday.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after a closed door meeting, Governor Abdulrahman noted that there is need to strengthen regulations in the downstream sector in terms of health and safety.

The NGF Chairman emphasized that he has been in talks with the head of the downstream agency in order to review some of the laws.

He restated that as Nigeria relies on virtual pipelines for movement of petroleum products, there is need to strengthen regulations in the sector, as it is equally necessary to improve and expand pipelines network for transportation of petroleum products.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the people of Rivers State over the incident.

The President in a statement by his media aide Ajuri Ngelale, directed federal agencies in the state to continue liaising with the state government to provide the much-needed immediate support to all victims of the incident.
