Today FM gathered that the victims including a driver of a commercial vehicle, and one Franco Chikadiobi, were shot dead along Ubeta-Owuberoad by the gunmen who laid ambush on them.
An indigene of Ubarama community in Ahoada West, who is also a former Community Development Committee Chairman of the community, Major Elleh said the driver and the owner of the building materials he was conveying, were on their way to Owube community before the incident.
Elleh called on stakeholders and the Local Government Council Chairman to give necessary support to the new Divisional Police Officer and other security agencies in the area to clampdown on criminal elements.
It would interest you to know that the Rivers State Commissioner of police, Nwonyi Emeka upon assumption of office, redeployed Divisional Police Officers of Akinima Police Division and Ahoada Police Division in Ahoada West and East Local Government Areas, and brought in two new DPOs, a strategy that reduced the activities of cultists and other criminal elements in the area.
The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police command, Grace Iringe-Koko was yet to respond to text messages sent to her mobile phone by Today FM correspondent as at the time of filling this report.
