The Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Wednesday, February 18, 2026, as the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan 1447AH.
The monarch announced that the crescent moon was sighted in nearly all parts of the country on Tuesday, the 29th day of Sha’aban, thereby confirming Wednesday as the commencement of fasting.
In a press statement issued in Sokoto and signed by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sambo Junaid, the Sultan urged Muslim communities nationwide to begin fasting on Wednesday in accordance with Islamic teachings.
