You would recall that the Chairman of the committee, Senator DANJUMA GOJE, had last week informed his colleagues that the report was not ready because of a police raid on his Abuja home last month.
But more than seven days after Nigerians were told that the police had returned documents carted away from Senator GOJE’s home, the report of the Appropriation Bill is still not ready.
The Senate Leader, Senator AHMED LAWN, gave this indication during plenary even though the submission of the Budget Report was earlier listed as part of items for consideration in the Order Paper of the Senate.
The Senator said he was informed that members of the Joint Appropriation Committee of the Senate and the House of Representatives have been meeting to harmonise the Budget Report.?
Senator LAWAN said he was assured that the report would be ready by Tuesday next week.
The Deputy President of the Senate; Senator IKE EKWEREMADU, also affirmed that the budget was going through final touches for onward presentation to President MUHAMMADU BUHARI for assent before the end of this month, when it is due to become operational.
