Students Threaten Protest Escalation Over Unmet Demands at Rivers Health College

The leadership of the Medical Imaging Technology Association at the Rivers State College of Health Science and Management Technology has said the institution’s management is yet to fully implement the demands presented by students.

The students had staged a peaceful protest last Friday, calling for the removal of the Head of Department of Medical Imaging, Dr. Egba Nwanchukwu.

President of the association, Samson Onome, warned that students may escalate their actions by blocking the Government House gate if their demand is not met. He also alleged that a recent interview he granted was censored, claiming that only the portion where he commended the management for reducing departmental fees was aired, while other concerns raised by the students were omitted.

Similarly, the Speaker of the Students’ Representative Council, Awajimowa Ebirien, said the institution’s management has not acted on the demand for the removal of the Head of Department. He alleged that the call for removal is based on claims of certificate forgery and lack of proper qualifications.

The students have vowed to continue peaceful protests until their demands are addressed by the school authorities.
