Napoleon Ukalikpe while empathizing with the victims of the flood, called on government and relevant agencies to come to the aid of the people by providing relief materials and camps for the Internally Displaced Persons
Ukalikpe who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Ahoada East constituency two, noted that most communities in Upata Kingdom are submerged in water and urgently need help to avoid unnecessary sicknesses and deaths.
He listed Ula Upata, UlaIkata, Ozochi, Ochigba, Ikata, Odiabidi, Okporowo, Ihuike, OkpogaUdhudo, amongst others as the most affected by the flood, adding that other communities that are not totally submerged have their farmlands and crops washed off.
While expressing worry that a democratic government could not provide a working and habitable camp for the victims, Ukalipe commended the monarch for his intervention.
On his part, a member of Obogwu community Development Committee in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Isaac Jacob called on the committee in charge of the distribution of fund released to victims to ensure that the right people receive the money.
