Nigeria stayed solid at the top of their qualifying group for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations after a brace by Victor Osimhen and goals by Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze steered them to a 4-2 win over Lesotho in Maseru on Sunday.

Cup holders Nigeria have been booted out of the ongoing U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt following a dire 0-0 draw with South Africa on Friday night that was not enough to see them through to the semi finals. The result meant they finished third in Group B and dropped out of contention for a place in the Men’s Football Tournament of next year’s Olympics in Tokyo.

West African rivals Coted’voire on Saturday edged Nigeria’s Under 23 side 1-0 in the Group B opener of the 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations (U23-AFCON) at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.
