Following the death of the Assistant Captain of Remo Stars Football Club, Kazeem Tiyamiyu, on Saturday along the Abeokuta/Sagamu road in the hands of men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Abeokuta Zonal intervention office, the Inspector General of Police has ordered the immediate dismantling of twelve zonal offices in the state.

BSN Sports reports that the squad will now be under the direct control of the various Commissioners of Police in their different locations.

This was disclosed Tuesday by the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department at the Force Headquarters, Peter Ogunyonwo, who was in Sagamu to commiserate with the family of the deceased footballer and people of Sagamu.

The DIG said, “I can tell you that the name of your son remains indelible in the history of Nigeria Police. I have a signal here and it was based on the incident, the IG immediately ordered that all satellite offices established by all zonal commands; the twelve zones, that they should be dismantled immediately.

“And all those offices be handed over to the various Commissioners of police of the Command. Even as a Deputy Inspector General of Police who has served the Police for over 34 years, I have not been able to influence that but your son has done that to us.”
