FLYING EAGLES DEFEAT SOUTH AFRICA TO TOP GROUP A AT AFRICA GAMES
The flying eagles of Nigeria recorded their first three points in the Football Event at the ongoing 12th African Games in Rabat Morocco.
Ahmad Ghali scored the winner as Nigeria defeated South Africa 2-1 in their second match after their opening group match against Burkina Faso ended in a 1-1 draw.
Collins Sor scored the other goal to ensure Nigeria went top of Group A with four points from two matches.
Nigeria went in front in the 28th minute courtesy of speed star Collins Sor but South Africa drew level in the 55th minute through Ofentse Mashiane.
The introduction of Success Makanjuola and Chinonso Emeka for Saeed Jibril and Collins Sor respectively later in the game by Coach Paul Aigbogun amplified the tempo of the match especially in the attack of the flying eagles.
As a result, Ibrahim Abubakar found space to run at the South African defense and whipped in a cross which was met by Ahmad Ghali for his second goal of the competition and the winner for Nigeria.
The Flying Eagles will play hosts Morocco in their last group game on Friday, 24th August, 2019 in Rabat.
