Real Madrid came from behind to beat 10-man Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Allianz Arena last night.

Arturo Vidal sent Bayern ahead in the 25th minute, but the Chilean missed a penalty on the stroke of halftime, before Cristiano Ronaldo's double in the second period turned the last-eight tie around.

Ronaldo's brace in Germany moved him onto 100 European club goals, and has placed Los Blancos in a commanding position ahead of the return match at the Bernabeu next week.

In Spain, Leicester City suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Atletico Madrid thanks to a controversial penalty from Antoine Griezmann.

The Premier League side battled gamely in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Vicente Calderon, but they were denied a positive scoreline after Griezmann netted from 12 yards after Marc Albrighton was adjudged to have committed a foul inside the box, with replays suggesting that it took place just outside.

Earlier in the day, Kylian Mbappe took his tally for the season to 21 goals with another brace for AS Monaco, helping his side to a 3-2 away win over Borussia Dortmund.

The match was played a little under 24 hours after the originally scheduled fixture due to a security incident on Tuesday night.
