2017 NPF league to kick off from 14th January.

In sports; the 2016-2017 Nigeria Professional Football League is billed to kick off on 14th of January, with Kano Pillars playing host to Ifeanyi Ubah FC in the only opening match.

This was made known in a statement released by the League Management Company which also confirmed that the season would come to an end in July.

 

The congress also endorsed incentives for NPFL clubs as proposed by the LMC board in the 2017 budget.

 

It approved that NPFL Clubs will receive five hundred thousand naira for each away win; two hundred thousand naira for away draws; and two hundred and fifty thousand naira for attracting over five thousand fans at home games.

 

All NPFL clubs will be paid two hundred thousand naira monthly for stadium maintenance; one hundred thousand naira for dressing three Under-18 youth players in a match day, with one playing at least fifteen minutes.

 

The LMC Annual General Meeting also adopted plans to organise a male age-grade football league among teams in the top flight league in partnership with the Spanish’s La Liga.
