After two months of uncertainty, it appears the Rivers State Government will finally run three football clubs in the incoming league season.
This indication emerged from a six-man committee that was set up by the Commissioner of Sports, BOMA IYAYI.The recommendation to the state government to continue to fund Sharks, Dolphins and Rivers Angels was contained in a report submitted by the committee headed by Chief ADOKIYE AMIESIMAKA.The committee suggested that the state government may need to verify claims of debt owed players of the three state owned clubs. In his response; the Sports Commission said his ministry wanted a solely independent report to chart a way forward for the clubs.
