Coach of Heartland Football Club, Fidelis Ilechukwu has threatened to resign if his working conditions at the club are not improved.
Heartland have been engrossed with scandals lately ranging from FIFA ban, players unpaid salaries, loosing key players to lack of accommodation for players and technical crew of which Ilechukwu says have posted great challenge to the team's performance in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
In an exclusive interview with Today Sportslive, the former MFM boss who's club have been fined N1.1m by the LMC for inappropriate kits during their matchday 9 away victory against the Lagos based club stated his desire to step down if basic working necessities for a club's coach are not met by the management.
"It's very very possible (to resign)," He began. "Why is it possible? if the ban has not been lifted for me to sign a few players. No problem!
"But, I'll not be a coach and don't have my players together, staying one place in a camp or a close accommodation, where I'll be seeing everybody train morning and evening and monitor what's going on in the team.
"My team will not be a team that people go and come back at anytime. You (Heartland management) can't deny me two things. If you deny me having some important players, we do all we can to make sure that we camp the players [we have at the moment] one place so that we can be able to train and understand ourselves as fast as possible so we will be able to deliver with what we have. So, if you deny me these two things, it means you don't want me to work. That's the truth," Ilechukwu concluded.
Heartland are 15th on the NPFL table with 10 Points from 9 matches and will welcome Lobi Stars in a matchday 10 fixture on Valentine's day.
