NPFL21: Rivers United reclaim top spot with a win over Adamawa United
Fortune Omoniwari was the hero as Rivers United beat Adamawa United 1-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium to reclaim top spot on the NPFL table.
The pride of Rivers dominated possession in the first 45mins but failed to break the deadlock as Omoniwari blasted wide and then directly at the goal keeper, Victor Philemon in what could be described as the best two chances created by the Port Harcourt based club in the first half.
Omoniwari however scored in the 53rd minuted off a pass from Ishaq Rafiu who came on a minute earlier replacing Godwin Aguda.

Sunshine Stars put up an impressive performance as they beat Rangers 3-1 in their Nigeria Professional Football League match day seven encounter at the Akure Township Stadium on Sunday.
The home team took the lead in the 24th minute following a close range finish by Sadeeq Yusuf.
Fuad Ekelojuoti doubled Gbenga Ogunbote side’s lead 10 minutes later, slotting the ball home after he was teed up by Chinedu Udechukwu.
Godspower Aniefiok reduced the deficit for Rangers nodding home substitute Dauda Madaki’s freekick a minute before the hour mark.
Four minutes later, Udechukwu powered home a beautiful free-kick to put the game beyond the visitors.
In Aba, Enyimba recorded a slim 1-0 win against Kastina United with Tosin Omoyele netting the decisive goal on the stroke of half-time.
Aniekan Ekpe bagged a brace as Dakkada returned to winning ways following a 2-0 win against Warri Wolves in Uyo.
MFM were held to a 0-0 draw by Kwara United at the Agege Stadium, while Lobi Stars and Abia Warriors also battled to a goalless draw in Makurdi.
