Nasarawa United moved to top of the 2020-21 Nigeria Professional Football League table after they claimed a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Warri Wolves to keep their unbeaten start intact.

Silas Nwankwo and Chinedu Ohanachom scored after half time to seal all three points for the visitors after Uche Ihuarulam opened scoring for the hosts in the first half.

Nasarawa United are now unbeaten this season, winning four of six games to amass 34 points and displace Rivers United at the top of the league although Rivers United have a game in hand against Kano Pillars on Monday.

Elsewhere, substitute Olawale Farayola scored an 86th minute winner to lift Kwara United to 5th in the table with a 1-0 win against FC Ifeanyiubah who remain mired in relegation trouble in 18th place.

Meanwhile, Dakkada woes at home continued apace as Sunshine Stars ran out 2-1 winners at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Sadeeq Yusuf scored a brace either side of Jesam Edet’s leveller to condemn Dakkada to a second straight defeat following defeat at Lobi Stars last time out.

11th placed Dakkada have now failed to win in three matches and have dropped points in consecutive home matches, while Sunshine Stars who moved up to 6th with the win, picked up points away from home for the first time this season.

Nigerian international striker Mfon Udoh scored his first goal in the league for over a year following his return to Akwa United after a brief sojourn in the USA with FC Tulsa but it wasn’t enough to prevent his side from falling to Heartland FC in Owerri.

Udoh opened scoring in the 34th minute but Heartland rallied with Samuel Nnoshiri levelling from the spot in the 52nd minute after Charles Okafor fouled Bright Onyedikachi inside the box and Nduka Pascal Eze sealing the win in the 80th minute.

Heartland’s second win of the campaign lifts them two points from the relegation places to 16th, level on six points with Akwa United who stay 14th.

Rangers could only play out a goalless draw with ten-man Lobi Stars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and it also ended goalless between Abia Warriors and MFM FC in Umuahia.
