Spate of failing health at Port Harcourt Home of Elderly raises concern.

The Matron of the facility, Reverend Sister MARYJANE AGUBOSI gave this indication when she disclosed that they lost two persons last month.

The Reverend Sister called for intervention of government and corporate organizations, just as she commended the Nigerian Medical Association for extending a medical outreach to the inmates.

State Chairman of NMA, Doctor DATONYE ALASIA said they decided to intervene with the medical outreach due to the spate of failing health among senior citizens in the elderly people’s home.

Doctor ALASIA said the gesture is in line with the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of Rivers State.

Correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that over sixty persons benefited from the medical outreach for treatment for heart diseases, as well as eye and dental care for elderly people.
