Over ten monarchs under the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council have paid a condolence visit to the family of the late King Jaja of Opobo and former Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Highness Dandeson Douglas Jaja.

The traditional rulers described the late monarch as a rare symbol of unity, wisdom, and trust within Nigeria’s traditional institution, noting that his leadership left a lasting impact on the council and the people he served.

Speaking during the visit, the Secretary of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council and Dein of Agbor, His Majesty Dr. Benjamin Ikenechuku, said the delegation came to identify with the Jaja of Opobo royal family and the people of Opobo Kingdom in their moment of grief. He also recalled the late king’s cordial relationship with successive Oonis of Ife, describing it as a reflection of his commitment to continuity, mutual respect, and unity among traditional rulers.

He urged the people of Rivers State and Opobo Kingdom to uphold their cultural heritage and extend the same respect and support to the new king of Opobo.

Responding on behalf of the family, a niece of the late monarch, Princess Ibiene Ogan, described the visit as heart-warming and appreciated the solidarity shown by the visiting rulers.

Leading the delegation, the Eze Oha Evo III of Evo Kingdom and Chairman of the Supreme Forum of Ikwerre Government-Recognized Traditional Rulers, His Majesty King Professor Leslie N. Eke, Eze Gbakagbaka, also paid glowing tributes to the late King Jaja of Opobo, praising his legacy of leadership and service.
