Southern Governors Agree to Push for Fiscal Federalism and Devolution of Powers

All governors of the seventeen southern states, except Governor ROCHAS OKOROCHA of Imo State, were in attendance at the meeting.
Members of the Southern Governors Forum also expressed their commitment to a united and indivisible Nigeria.
The position of the group was contained in a communiqué which was read before newsmen at the end of the meeting by the host, Governor AKINWUNMI AMBODE of Lagos State.
Furthermore; Governor AMBODE said governors of the southern states agreed to work together to strengthen security and protect the property of the citizens.
The Southern Governors Forum also resolved to appoint Governors SERIAKE DICKSON of Bayelsa State, DAVID UMUAHI of Ebonyi State and AKINWUNMI AMBODE of Lagos State as Co-Chairmen of the forum.
Our correspondent gathered that thirteen governors were present at the Lagos summit last night, while the Governors of Anambra, Delta and Cross Rivers sent representatives.
The Rivers State Government was also given the nod to host the next meeting of the Southern Governors Forum on a date that is yet to be decided.
