Senate Panel Summons Former NNPCL GCEO Kyari Over Alleged ₦210trn Unaccounted Funds

The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has summoned a former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, to explain an alleged ₦210 trillion that was not properly accounted for between 2017 and 2023.

Also summoned by the committee are a former Chief Financial Officer of the company, Umar Ajia Isa, and a former Group General Manager of the National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), Bala Wunti.

Chairman of the Committee, Senator Aliyu Wadada, issued the summons following the panel’s review of audit reports concerning the operations and financial records of the national oil company within the period under review.

The committee is seeking clarification on the financial discrepancies highlighted in the reports as part of its oversight responsibilities on public accounts.
