Senate looking into hiked electricity bills by Power Distribution Companies.

The situation was brought to the attention of the Red Chamber by Senator DINO MELAYE of the APC for Kogi West.

Speaking on a motion in plenary, Senator MELAYE said the electricity distribution companies were exploiting electricity consumers through overbilling.

Senator MELAYE noted that years after privatization of the power sector, the handling of retailing and marketing of electricity in Nigeria has not been effective.
