The Rivers State University (RSU) has announced plans to implement measures that will ensure the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the institution.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb Obipi, made this known during the opening ceremony of this year’s Postgraduate International Annual Conference.
Prof. Obipi emphasized that artificial intelligence is not meant to replace humans but to serve as a supportive tool, particularly in advancing academic work and research.
The lead presenter at the conference, Prof. Esther Fomsi of the University of Port Harcourt, who spoke on the topic “Artificial Intelligence: Catalyst for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation,” underscored the importance of AI in fostering collaboration and providing solutions to the challenges confronting humanity.
In his remarks, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Prof. Okechukwu Onuchukwu, advocated for an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, noting that the integration of AI across fields will enhance innovation and global competitiveness.
