Rivers State move to tackle violence against women in new Bill

This is contained in a report on Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bill, 2019 presented by member representing Asari-Toru Constituency One, ENEMI GEORGE. 

ENEMI GEORGE while presenting the report before the House said anyone including; men, women, adult children, parents and so on, found guilty of violating the proposed Law will be liable to three years imprisonment.

 

The Asari-Toru Lawmaker also recommended in the report that the proposed Law coverts acts of rape and violent sexual conducts.

 

Our correspondent reports that members are expected to debate on the report of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bill, 2019 this week.
