Retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ekwe Ibas, the Administrator of Rivers State, is calling for legislative backing to facilitate his administration’s efforts in tackling pressing operational challenges. He made this appeal during a visit from the Senate Committee on Works, led by Chairman Senator Barinada Mpigi, at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.
In his remarks, the retired Vice Admiral highlighted his administration’s ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and address significant infrastructural issues critical to the state’s development. He emphasized the importance of the Senate delegation’s oversight duties in assessing the critical infrastructure within Rivers State, urging them to keep in mind the state’s vital role in the country.
Senator Barinada Mpigi, in turn, confirmed that the committee’s visit was aimed at supervising several ongoing federal projects in the state. The Senate Committee on Works was accompanied by a delegation from Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, led by Managing Director Dr. Peer Lubasch, as they evaluated the progress of these key projects.
The meeting underscored the collaborative efforts needed between state and federal authorities to ensure the advancement of essential infrastructure and improve the overall well-being of Rivers State’s residents.
