It will interest you to know that detectives attached to the Surveillance Centre Unit of Rivers State Police command invaded a hotel in Port Harcourt, arrested lawyers and carted away documents neededat the tribunal for APC candidates who lost in the just concluded elections.
The police after granting bail to the lawyers and other staff of the chamber, refused to release the documents, insisting that INEC must visit the station to verify the authenticity of the documents which had earlier been done.
Shortly after recovery of the documents and other materials, Tonye-Cole who decried the level of stress and difficulties encountered at the state CID, said the action of the police in Rivers State is not good for the country’s democracy.
Tonye-Cole who addressed newsmen at the State Criminal Investigation Department,also accused Rivers State Police command of creating a Unit called Wike Police which he claimed is being used to harass and intimidate opposition parties in the state.
The APC Governorship Candidate further called on Rivers people to rise up and put an end to such activities for the freedom of the people.
