Pensioners in Rivers State have dismissed reports suggesting they are planning to stage a protest over unpaid gratuities.
Describing the claims as false and misleading, the pensioners said no such protest has been scheduled or discussed within their ranks.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners in Rivers State, Dr. Joseph Agbo, told our reporter Ufuoma Kokogho that the current Sole Administrator of the state, retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas, is making commendable efforts to address their concerns regarding gratuities.
Dr. Agbo also praised the Sole Administrator for increasing pension gratuities, saying the move reflects a genuine commitment to the welfare of senior citizens in the state.
