Rivers NLC expresses annoyance over Pension Scheme

State Vice Chairman of NLC, CHUKWU EMECHETA gave this indication at the fourth Quadrennial Delegate Conference of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria.
Speaking at the event in Port Harcourt, EMECHETA said the NLC was pushing for amendment of the Pension Act, which he said favours only one party in its present form.
He lamented that only workers were fulfilling their part of the Act, while government was not contributing its own quota to the scheme.
EMECHETA, who is also the Chairman of the Joint Public Sector Negotiating Council, said the labour union would continue to fight for the welfare of workers.
The labour leader further slammed the government for not doing enough to encourage workers by helping to reduce their suffering through improved wages.
The President of the Trade Union Congress, BOBBOI BALA-KAIGAMA who doubles as National Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, was represented at the event by PRINCEWILL KAMO.
Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that the theme for the delegate conference of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria reflects on the role of the working class in an economy in recession.
