Rivers ministry of health takes breast awarness campaign to Port Harcourt streets

Today FM’s correspondent who monitored the cancer campaign walk tagged, “Pink Ninja Walk”organized by the State Ministry of Health in collaboration with Engrace Life Foundation, reports that the campaign kicked off from Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, through Stadium road to Aba road and finally Rumuola road.

The State Commissioner for Health, Doctor Adaeze Oreh who spoke to newsmen, urged women and girls to submit themselves to regular check, noting that cancer detected early is curable.

The Commissioner of Health who was represented by the Deputy Director Public Non-communicable Disease Program Manager Rivers State Ministry of Health, Doctor Sandra Abolo, said the state government is doing a lot to prevent and control breast cancer through the Ministry.

Also speaking at the campaign, a stage four cancer survivor, Ethel Olomu who is also the founder of Engrace Life Foundation, emphasized that the reason for the breast cancer campaign awareness, is to enlighten people that breast cancer is not a respecter of anybody.

Today FM reports that the President of Nigeria Cancer Society, Doctor Alhassan Umar, who was represented by the founder Next of Hope Cancer Advocacy Community, Dozie Akwarandu, said cancer is endemic and that it is the largest cancer suffered in Nigeria, and urged people to change their lifestyle including feeding, alcohol intake and smoking to living healthy.
