The Chief Registrar of the High Court of Rivers State, David Maduenyi, in a statement in reaction to the comment, described the comment by Lloyd as false, and intended to misguide the general public.
Maduenyi however acknowledged that the Chief Judge, Simeon Amadi, released of fifty-six persons during the statutory jail-delivery exercise of the 2nd November, 2023, but denied that the person mentioned by Chidi Lloyd was part of those who benefited from it.
The Chief Registrar of the High Court of Rivers State maintained that the fifty-six released inmates followed due process, including the report of the officer in charge of the Port Harcourt Custodian Centre, insisting that no inmate whose matter is pending in court was considered for release during the jail-delivery exercise.
The statement, while doubting the source of information by the Emohua Council Chairman, said the refutal became necessary for the purpose of putting the records straight.
