Some members of the Management Committee of the NYCN including some of the local government Coordinators and leaders of affiliate groups who made the claim in a media briefing in Port Harcourt directed Ihunwo to hand over all the properties belonging to the youth group in his possession within twenty-four hours.
The Coordinator of NYCN in Emohua, Innocent Woke who read out the communiqué said their decision follows the expiration of the tenure of Chijioke Ihunwo and his executive committee, allegations of misappropriation of funds, gross misconduct, and abuse of power amongst other offences.
The group said Ihunwo upon the elevation of former State Chairman of the NYCN, Sukubo Sara-Igbe as the National President, came to complete the tenure of Sara-Igbe SARA-IGBE which elapsed in 2020.
Woke said in order to avoid a vacuum, the Management Committee of the NYCN appointed him to act as the state Chairman, Napoleon Spiff as Deputy while Allwell Jamala is the secretary.
Our correspondent Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that security agencies had earlier taken over the state secretariat of the NYCN and attempted to arrest Ihunwo following a controversy that ensued when the Sukubo Sara-Igbe faction arrived the venue to inaugurate a newly elected excos.
The Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka however summoned the factions of the youth group to the state headquarters to resolve the issues.
