The first Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor, E.J ALAGOA made the observation in an interview with correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR in Port Harcourt. Professor ALAGOA who is also the former Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and the Head of the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies in UNIPORT said the removal of history was a terrible one, stressing that children now grow without any sense of history. Professor ALAGOA called on the federal government to take steps towards re-integrating the subject back to school curriculum which he said would expose students to wide knowledge. It would interest you to know that History as a subject was expunged by the Federal Government from school curriculum and replaced it with Social Studies.
