Dr. Priye Olise, a public health doctor, has issued a warning against the habit of consuming soft drinks as a substitute for water, emphasizing the importance of proper hydration for overall health.
Speaking during the June edition of the Rivers State University’s 2.5 Walk for Life, a monthly health and fitness initiative aimed at promoting wellness within the university community, Dr. Olise highlighted that water is vital for the optimal functioning of the human body, as every cell depends on it.
He advised adults to consume at least three liters of water daily to prevent health issues related to dehydration. Furthermore, Dr. Olise listed common signs of dehydration, including dark-colored urine, dry mouth, and decreased urine output, urging individuals to be vigilant.
The health expert emphasized that staying hydrated is crucial for everyone, regardless of age, and encouraged people to be intentional about maintaining adequate water intake for their well-being.
