The Nigerian presidency has refuted claims that President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Saint Lucia was a vacation, affirming that the trip is for strategic engagements.
President Tinubu arrived in Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, early Sunday, prompting widespread speculation that he was on holiday. However, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga issued a statement on Sunday dismissing these assertions as misguided, mischievous, and uninformed.
Onanuga emphasized that the visit is part of Nigeria’s diplomatic and strategic efforts, and urged the public to view it in the proper context of international engagement rather than leisure. The presidency reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging diplomatic relations to advance Nigeria’s national interests.
