Pres Buhari names Governing Council and Board of Trustees for Ogoni cleanup programme

With the inauguration of the two bodies by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI in Abuja yesterday, came the release of the names of the members.

 
The thirteen-man Board of Trustees is chaired by WALE EDUN, while the members include the Minister of State for Environment, IBRAHIM USMAN JIBRIL; the Minister of Finance KEMI ADEOSUN; and the Minister of State for Petroleum IBE KACHIKWU.
 
Others are Doctor PETER MEDEE and Chief BEBE OKPABI who represent Ogoni Stakeholders; as well as OSAGIE OKUNBOR, INSULA MASSIMO and NICHOLAS TERRAZ who represent multinational oil companies.
 
Also in the Board are Prince MIKE EMUH for other Niger Delta communities, NNIMMO BASSEY for NGOs, while the representative for UNEP is yet to be named, as the secretary and Legal Adviser to be appointed from HYPREP.
 
On the other hand; the Governing Council is composed of the Minister of Environment, AMINA MOHAMMED as chairperson, while the members include Minister of State for Petroleum, IBE KACHIKWU, as well as the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator UDO UDOMA, and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor USANI USANI.
 
The National Security Adviser, retired Major General BABAGANA MONGUNO is also a member of the Council, so is the incoming Managing Director of NDDC, NSIMA EKERE.
 
Shell Managing Director, OSAGIE OKUNBOR is also in the council, human rights advocate ANYAKWEE NSIRIMOVU takes the slot of NGOs; just as Professor ROSELYN KONYA represents nine Oil Producing States.
 
LEGBORSI PYAGBARA and Professor BEN NAANEN are number ten and eleven in the list of council members as representatives of Ogoni Stakeholders, while Doctor TIMI AGARI and PAMELA ESIRI represent other Niger Delta Communities.
 

Alternates names were also provided as Doctor BATAM NDEGWE, KAMI NGELALE, ISRAEL KAYODE and EMEM OKON.
